Botanical Name - Fucus vesiculosus

Other Names - Black tang, rockweed, bladder focus, sea oak, black tany, cut weed, dyers focus, red focus

Origin - Canada

Bladderwrack was the original source of iodine (discovered in 1811), and is one of the most common type of seaweed found in the oceans. The name Bladderwrack refers to the bladder-like air pods (vesicles) that keep the plant afloat in the ocean. The brown alga known as Bladderwrack is also a common source of kelp.

Sprinkle directly into foods as an alternative to salt. May also be added to tea blends.  Bladderwrack as a salty, fishy taste. Combine in moderation with acidic and savory foods to balance flavors in a dish

People use the whole plant to make medicine. Some also apply bladderwrack to the skin for skin diseases, burns, aging skin, and insect bites.

Packaging - We package all of our herbal, fruit powders and spices in a heat sealed mylar bag which serves as a very effective barrier to light, oxygen, odors, flavors, moisture, and bacteria. The bag can be resealed with any household iron or curling iron.
