White Willow Bark Extract Powder; 15% Salicin

Regular price $37.00 Sale

Derived from White Willow Bark

Origin - China

Flavor Profile - Bitter and does not dissolve easily in water. It can, however, be mixed into a ginger or cinnamon  tea with some hot water and sweetener to detract from the bad flavor.

Culinary Usages - Encapsulate as a dietary supplement.

Cosmetic Usages - Infuse in oil for use in topical salves, balms and ointments.

For centuries the white willow bark has been used as an analgesic. In fact, there is recorded evidence that the herb was used for this purpose in China as early as 500 B.C. Native Americans commonly stripped the inner white pith of the bark to make topical ointments. White willow bark contains various tannins and a chemical called salicin, a precursor to acetylsalicylic acid that is more commonly known as aspirin. Natural sources of salicin are more readily absorbed by the body than are synthetic sources. Powdered white willow bark extract is usually encapsulated, but can also be used to produce salves and ointments.

As a dietary supplement, take 400mg (1/8 tsp) to 1600mg (scant 1/2 tsp) per day, or as directed by a physician.
