Garlic Conversions - For handy garlic conversions use: 1 fresh garlic clove = 1/8 teaspoon of garlic powder or 1/4 teaspoon of granulated garlic or 1/2 teaspoon of garlic flakes.
Garlic, Allium sativum, is from the genus Allium, and is closely related to chives, leeks, onions and shallots. Garlic is especially popular in Central and South American, Chinese, Indian, Mediterranean, Mexican and Southeast Asian cuisine. Garlic Flakes add flavor to sautéed beef, chicken, pork, fish, or vegetables. Large garlic flakes are delicious in curries and casseroles. Wait until the dish is almost done, then add the Flakes into the hot pan so they will just get crisp and not burnt.
